“I aspire to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings, and I am honored to be a
Dharma student. My heartfelt gratitude goes to my teacher, Tashi Nyima, for his unwavering commitment to the teachings.” ~ DEKYI CHÖDRÖN

On Feb 26, 2012, Venerable Tashi Nyima explained the significance of taking refuge in the Three Jewels – Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Tashi emphasized the importance of understanding and entering into the act mindfully. In the Jonang lineage, “The Buddha is non-dual wisdom. The Buddha is a body of truth. The Buddha is a teacher. The Buddha is your pure mind. The Dharma is inseparable in qualities. The Dharma is the body of glory. The Dharma is divinity. The Dharma is your pure speech., and The Sangha is inconceivable activity. The Sangha is the body of compassion. The Sangha is perfector. The Sangha is your own pure body.” These concepts signify that one shouldn’t seek external perfection but instead find it within oneself.

During the ceremony, I took refuge in the Three Jewels and was given the Buddhist name DEKYI CHÖDRÖN, meaning Truth, Light of Joy, and Happiness.
